How We Package Our Plants

At Utopia Clivias, we understand the importance of receiving healthy, well-protected plants—no matter where in the world you may be ordering from. Our packaging methods are designed to safeguard each plant during transit while ensuring it arrives in excellent condition. Every step of the process reflects our commitment to quality, plant health, and customer satisfaction.

Packaging of Mature Clivia Plants & Offsets

Mature clivia plants and offsets are prepared with great care before shipping:

Plants are gently removed from their pots.
All soil is thoroughly washed off the roots to comply with shipping standards.
Roots are not trimmed unless absolutely necessary for plant health.
Clean roots are wrapped in newspaper to prevent dehydration.
Each plant is then placed in breathable veggie netting, allowing airflow while keeping the plant secure.
Plants are packed into sturdy boxes or packing tubes to ensure leaves remain straight and undamaged during transport.

All mature plants and offsets are shipped every Monday.

Packaging of Clivia Seedlings

Our seedlings are only sold once they are strong, well-rooted, and have at least 3+ healthy leaves.

For safe transit:

Seedlings are removed from soil and cleaned gently.
Roots are wrapped in moist tissue to keep them hydrated.
Each seedling is then wrapped in newspaper for added protection.
They are packed into sturdy boxes or tubes that prevent foliage from bending or breaking during transport.

Seedling orders are shipped every Monday.

Packaging of Bulbs & Lilies

Bulbous plants require a slightly different approach:

Bulbs are washed and prepared, with leaves and roots trimmed where appropriate.
Each bulb is placed into a brown paper bag, helping keep it dry and protected.
Bags are then carefully packed into boxes designed to keep bulbs secure during transport.

Bulbs and lilies are shipped every Monday.

Additional Packaging for International Orders

International orders receive extra attention to ensure they can withstand longer travel times and varied climate conditions. To protect plants from cold temperatures during transit, all international parcels are fully wrapped with additional insulation to prevent cold damage. This added layer of protection helps maintain plant health throughout their journey across borders and climates.
